The Alumni Association Board of Directors realizes that this is a difficult time for our alumni. We sincerely hope that the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on you and your families are minimal as we struggle to overcome the health, economic and social isolation problems we are all facing.
124 STUDENTS GRADUATE FROM HHS!
Congratulations to the HHS Class of 2020 graduates who this year had to add a mask to their cap and gown ensemble. The “graduates only” ceremony was held at the Burke Estate on Friday, June 26. Imagine graduating without an audience. Parents, grandparents and siblings watched on-line, and, of course, there was no hugging. Each graduate was given an HHS Alumni 2020 baseball cap to mark this special occasion in this strange year. 2020 SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
The pandemic did not interfere with the ability of HHS to graduate extremely talented students. We are very pleased that due to YOUR generosity through yearly Dues and Donations we were able to award 16 scholarships totaling totaling $27,000 to the members of the Class of 2020. Though our scholarship process was different given the restrictions posed by the pandemic, the Scholarship Committee noted that HHS is still graduating top-notch students who are committed to making the world a better place.

COVID CANCELS FALL EVENTS
So sorry everyone that our normal September Homecoming Activities have to be canceled this year. We were all ready for our Annual All-Class Get-Together, Membership Meeting, School Tour and Hall of Fame Induction Dinner. There’s not much we can do given the need to social distance and the restriction of activities in the school and at our dinner venue.
BUT we will……..
CELEBRATE IN THE SPRING!
Our 2020 Ronald Wilson Lindemann Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees have been selected. Thank you to our Hall of Fame Committee members for presenting us with this year’s Hall of Fame inductees. Congratulations to :
Anthony “Butch” Kolodzinski ’61 (posthumously), Charlie Papelian ’70 (posthumously), Dr. Richard Balaban ’73, Debbie Kepcher Russomano ’73, Chris Testa ’00, and Jaclyn Melillo ’02. The School Yard Stick Ball Team and the 1965 Track Team will receive special awards. Details on the accomplishments of these Hall of Famers will soon be available on our website. We’ll have a big celebration for them when it’s safe to gather; let’s plan for the Spring, 2021!
DID YOU KNOW????
Jared Myers, Class of 1951, was among those who first circumnavigated the North American continent in 1957. Paul Perreten interviewed Jared about his travels and the resulting article was published in the Fall 2017 issue of the Hastings Historian. The Hastings Historical Society has graciously allowed us to share this story here:
Here is your Alumni Board of Directors (less the camera shy) Zooming our way through the pandemic. We’ll keep you posted on what we’re doing. Our goals include updating our website, providing alumni updates on our Facebook page and getting ready for the Hall of Excellence 2021.
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
With the cancellation of our Fall activities, we are expecting our membership dues and scholarship donations to be less than last year.
Please help us to continue to support the future generations of Hastings High School alums by paying your $25 dues. If you are interested in sponsoring a scholarship or contributing to our scholarship fund, you can find more information on our website, www.hohalumni.org., or contact us at info@hohalumni.org.
